The Canadian Rockies are some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. They’re also home to some of the best skiing in North America. The area around Vancouver, British Columbia, features incredible skiing for all levels of athletes. Everyone from beginners to pros can find a great run tailored to their level.

One of the most famous ski resort towns in BC is Whistler. There are over 200 ski runs there, and over a dozen alpine bowls. These are spread over two mountains, Blackcomb and Whistler. Blackcomb has some more challenging trails for intermediate and expert skiers. Whistler is more well-suited to beginners. Skiing isn’t all the town has to offer, either. There’s also zip-lining, spas and even an art museum.

Cypress Mountain is close to 3,000' in height. While it’s less famous than Whistler, but it’s the biggest ski resort in the province. This is a great place for anyone who loves cross country skiing. Cypress is unique because people can drive directly to the cross-country area. There’s also plenty of downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing available.

In North Vancouver, Mt Seymour is a big draw. This resort is unique because it’s still owned by one family. It’s like a trip back in time to an earlier era of ski resorts. Mt Seymour is known for its excellent teaching programs. There are classes for both kids and adults. It also gets the most snow of the three mountains in the North Vancouver area.

With its Victorian look, Silver Star is a unique resort in the Vancouver area. It’s very focused on skiing. There are nine hotels right on the mountain, so people can really spend their weekends out on the slopes. With three mountains and over 115 runs, there’s a trail for every level at Silver Star.

Finally, there’s Big White. This resort is located right near Kelowna. This resort gets almost 25 feet of snowfall annually, and it’s all powder that’s great for skiing. There are over 118 trails at Big White. Other activities include ice skating and sleigh rides. There’s even a 60 foot ice tower on the property. Big White is designed for young families, so there are plenty of wonderful activities for children here.
